2022 Fall Cruise
Write-up

After a particularly rough Spring Cruise, the club had an almost perfect Fall Cruise. Starting and ending in Oxford MD, the fleet enjoyed two days of light air racing and one of the best raft-ups ever!

After the opening cocktail party at Tred Avon Yacht Club, the fleet gathered on Friday morning for the first race. Conditions were good. Overcast, warm and 6 to 8 kts of wind. Led by Race Committee Andrew and Hillary Armstrong, the fleet started off the Tred Avon Yacht Club and sailed out to the Chespaeake Bay and back. A missing mark in the Choptank River made the course unexpectedly a bit longer than expected, but the fleet handled the change in stride.

In the A Fleet the Commodore's duked it out within a boat length or two the entire time with Rear Commodore Roel Hoekstra winning by seconds over Commodore Steve Director.

In the B Fleet, Will Herbert (on his first race at the Club) edged out Past Commodore Chip Seltzer for the win.

Friday night raft-up was in Deep Water Point and we had all 11 boats on one big raft-up. Three anchors and perfect conditions made for a great evening of socializing among the fleet.

On Saturday the conditions were quite light, and just when the race committee was about to cancel the racing for the day, a nice little breeze came in. The fleet started and had a super competive race out to the Choptank River and back.

In Class A Rear Commodore Roel Hoekstra edged out Commodore Steve Director again. In Class B Past Commodore Chip Seltzer was able to stay clear of slower traffic at the start and hold on for the win.

The awards dinner at the Robert Morris Inn was perfect as always.
