The Corinthian Yacht Club of Philadelphia is a participatory club of individuals and families with an interest in sailing, sailboat racing, cruising, boating and trap shooting. Conveniently located on eleven acres of beautiful Delaware River waterfront in Essington, PA. Corinthian is one of the oldest continuously operating yacht clubs in the country.
Members enjoy three seasons of one-design club racing on Lasers, J22s, Vanguard 15s and Optimists; year-round trap shooting; semi-annual sailboat cruises on the Chesapeake Bay or one of the Club's many social and educational events. The Club also has a vigorous junior sailing program and learn-to-sail classes.
Privileges of the club include access to the dining room and porches, parlors, outdoor deck, locker rooms and swimming pool. The waterfront services include docks with water and electricity, and a number of moorings and slips. The Club also owns 2 Flying Scots and several canoes, kayaks and stand up paddle boards for member use. Members enjoy reciprocity with the Yachting Clubs of America, as well as several other select clubs. Boat storage is available on the property.

The tradition started many years ago when sailors after a long winter at sea would burn their socks signally spring and warmer weather. For the past 40 years a hearty group in Annapolis have adopted this tradition of burning of their socks, shucking oysters, enjoying musical entertainment with beer toasts and reciting of sea chanteys. It’s now time for CYC to create their “Kick Off to Spring” tradition.
Celebrate the end of our Trap Shooting season, beginning of One Design Sailing & a Welcome to all New Members in 2013!
So bring a pair of your old winter socks to throw into the fire pit. Enjoy live music by Jim Fogarty, oysters, buffet dinner and camaraderie of fellow members. New members will be introduced followed by a team Scavenger Hunt. Come with stories of the winter and share your summer plans for warmer months ahead.
